Pwlldu

From Caswell, a short cliff walk leads to Brandy Cove and Pwlldu. Pwlldu (Black pool) has retained its Welsh name in this very English part of the Gower. It is where Bishopston Valley meets the sea.

The Black pool is formed by the Bishopston stream as it is damned back by the finest pebble beach on the Gower. However at low tide there is a fine stretch of sand. The impressive limestone bulk of Pwlldu Head is over 300ft, making it the highest headland in Gower.
Mae llwybr yr arfordir yn arwain o Caswell i'r gorllewin, i Brandy Cove a Pwlldu. Mae Pwlldu wedi cadw ei enw Cymraeg, yr unig le i wneud hynny mewn rhan o Gwyr sy'n seisnigedd iawn. Dyma ble mae dyffryn Bishopston yn cyrraedd y mor.

Mae't traeth caregog yn ffurfio crofur naturiol, yn dal nol dwr afonig Bishopston, dyma'r pwll du.
Foddbynnag, pan fo'r llanw'n isel, mae yma lecyn o dywod braf. Mae copa carreg calch Pwlldu dros 300 troedfedd o uchder, dyma'r pentir uchaf yn Gwyr.
